Brain Dump is not a technique I've tried before, but will have a go at. I will also make a point of including questions about prior learning in weekly tests.
I think it can be a good starter activity or ice breaker as an introduction to a new topic. It can be done individually and then asking some students to share information with the rest of their classmates.
