This is a good activity to complete as a starter. I usually ask the learners to choose different colour board pens (eg, red things from last lesson and blue for things from the previous week). Learners gave an overview of the statements that they wrote on the board, all statements were discussed until the board was clear. This supported retrieval practice as learners couldn't look at their notes as they were asked to write on the board before they had sat down or taken their books out. I also found that this activity was useful for the first lesson of the week as the gap between last week's lessons meant that learners usually forgot. Therefore, embedding a routine where this was the first activity completed in the first lesson back, also encouraged to review there notes during the gap.
Although, this academic i have embedded a science in the new activity, I will move that to later in the week to ensure that the board dump activity is complete at the beginning of the week so it has more of an impact.
