With a practical subject, I think it is really important to keep the awe and curiosity alive. And encourage students to ask questions of 'but what if' and let them use the teaching space as an active forum for fleshing out ideas.
Not only will it build resilience but they can learn from each other and embed the knowledge far quicker than the information being lectured to them.
