Dry Runs

We are going to ensure that every learner in ESOL has the opportunity to take two mock exams in each of the three skills areas: Speaking & Listening/ Reading/ Writing.

This builds on what we did last year. However, in the past we have maybe been guilty of overdoing it, so learners spent too long doing practice tests. Going forward there will be greater emphasis on input, but learners will still have clearly signaled dry runs.

I am, going to use the AO's standards to compile a mock test. In previous years this has been an online multiple choice exam so I will use a quiz platform to replicate something similar.

For practical we always do a simulated client session prior to starting real client assessments so I would continue to do this; sharing the assessment criteria with students prior to this.

In ESOL, Speaking and listening dry run can be a classroom activity in which learners interview each other and do a peer assessment.
